Premier Li Keqiang and Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Meet the Press, Stressing to Carry forward China-Thailand Friendship and to Promote Practical Cooperation

On 11 October local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand met the press after holding talks in Bangkok.

Li Keqiang first conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes from the Chinese government and people to the Thai people. He said, I just held extensive and fruitful talks with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and we jointly witnessed the signing of quite a number of important bilateral agreements. We agreed that China and Thailand enjoy both traditional friendship and the foundation for realistic cooperation, as well as, more importantly, broad prospects and huge potentials for wide-ranging, in-depth and all-dimensional cooperation in the future. The prosperity and development of China and Thailand are opportunities for each other and both sides should further enhance political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation in the major fields of economy, trade, transportation, energy, finance, scien-tech, culture and defence, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges to consolidate the social foundation. China and Thailand have announced to discuss and sign a memorandum of understanding on mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders of the two countries. It is believed to provide greater facilitation for the exchanges between the two peoples.

Li Keqiang said that both sides as well communicated on international and regional issues of mutual interest. China appreciates Thailand's positive role as country coordinator of ASEAN-China relations. The Chinese government is ready to work with Thailand to push for unceasing new progress of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. It is believed that China-Thailand relations, based on the traditional familial affection, will surely be cemented by new bond and that China-Thailand cooperation will benefit the people of the two countries and of the region.

Yingluck Shinawatra on behalf of the Thai government and people extended warm welcome to Premier Li Keqiang for the visit to Thailand. She believes that the visit is fruitful and will set the direction for the long-term development of Thailand-China relations. Yingluck Shinawatra expressed that Thailand is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of trade, investment, connectivity, energy, agriculture and personnel exchanges and to strive to realize the goal of bilateral trade volume reaching 100 billion US dollars in 2015. China is welcomed to join in the construction of high-speed railway projects in Thailand and Thailand supports China's proposal on setting up the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Thailand is ready to work with China to actively push for greater development of ASEAN-China relations.
