Li Keqiang Visits "One-Village-One-Product" Project in Thailand, Stressing to Strengthen
Mutual Learning of Essence between China and Thailand, and Build More Platforms for Cooperation

On the morning of Oct. 13, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang visited the "One-Village-One-Product" Project in Chieng Mai, accompanied by Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The project was established in 2001 by the Thai government, aiming to increase the people's income through developing products and related industries with regional characteristics.

When Li Keqiang arrived, local people flew "Sky Lanterns" to welcome the arrival of the Chinese guests, and to pray for friendly cooperation between China and Thailand.

The square of the exhibition center was lined with exhibition stands for wood carvings, gold and silver wares, lacquerware, umbrella with colored drawings, and others, and craftsmen were demonstrating manufacturing processes of products. Li Keqiang asked in detail about the characteristics of product categories, production and processing modes, market development, and other situations, and paid compliments to product designs and creative process characteristics.

Yingluck Shinawatra introduced that there were specialized institutions in Thailand to do market research to understand the demand and to help farmers expand sales channels. Li Keqiang said that China is also promoting similar projects to integrate tourism and artifacts development, helping farmers find market and increase their income.

Li Keqiang said that both China and Thailand have products with their own characteristics, and are highly complementary. The two countries should strengthen mutual learning of each other's essence, and set up more exchange platforms for special products and related industries, expanding space for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

At the end of the visit, Li Keqiang shook hands with the Thai people who came crowding around, and sent sincere wishes to them, on behalf of the Chinese people.
