Briefing by Secretary-General of China Arms Control and Disarmament Association Chen Kai to Chinese and Foreign Media

On 24 March 2014, Chen Kai, Secretary-General of China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, held a press briefing on China's nuclear security policies and practices for Chinese and foreign media at the Press Center of the Chinese Delegation for the Nuclear Security Summit 2014 and answered questions.

Chen Kai emphasized that China attaches great importance to nuclear security and is firmly against nuclear proliferation and nuclear terrorism. He stressed that China has strictly implemented its international obligations in nuclear security, adopted stringent and effective nuclear security measures and maintained a sound record in nuclear security. Chen pointed out that China has always actively participated in international cooperation in nuclear security and worked tremendously to carry out personnel training and the sharing of relevant technologies and experience with other countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), making active and important contribution to comprehensively strengthening the capacity building and raising the level of nuclear security in the world.

The press briefing was attended by more than 60 journalists from over 30 Chinese and foreign media organizations, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, China Radio International, China Daily, Phoenix TV, Reuters, Associated Press, Bloomberg News, Radio France Internationale, Kyoto News, Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun and NHK.
