Xi Jinping Arrives in Fortaleza of Brazil for Attendance of the Sixth BRICS Summit

On July 14 local time, at the invitation of President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, Xi Jinping arrived in Fortaleza to attend the sixth BRICS Summit.

At about 2:05 in the afternoon local time, President Xi Jinping arrived at the Pinto Martins International Airport in Fortaleza by special plane. Senior officials of the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil greeted him at the airport.

Xi Jinping expressed that the BRICS countries are important force in the international relations and important builder in international arena, and China firmly supports and actively participates in the cooperation among BRICS countries. As the global economic recovery is still confronted with plenty of complicated factors now, I am looking forward to having in-depth discussion on cooperation with the leaders of other BRICS countries, further pooling consensus, and planning future development, so as to contribute more positive energy to promoting global economic growth, improving global economic governance, and promoting world peace and development.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Li Jinzhang, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, also greeted them at the airport.

Xi Jinping headed for Brazil after concluding his stopover visit to Greece. Upon his departure of the island of Rhodes, Greece in the morning of July 14 local time, the senior officials from Greek government including Minister for Development and Competitiveness Nikos Dendias bid him farewell at the airport.
