2014-07-22 19:23

On July 19 local time, President Xi Jinping received the Key to the City of Buenos Aires from its Chief of Government Mauricio Macri, who presented the Key on behalf of the city.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Chief of Government Macri presenting me the Key to the City reflects the friendly feelings of Buenos Aires citizens and Argentine people as a whole toward the Chinese people. I would like to express my best regards and good wishes to the citizens of Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires has witnessed and led the development of China-Argentina relations, and has always taken the lead among Latin American cities in terms of developing relations with China. In the early years of last century, Chinese commodities already entered Argentina through the port of Buenos Aires. Today, the "Made-in-China" trains running on the subway lines here reveal the vigorousness of practical and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Argentina. The jubilant Spring Festival temple fairs and the Argentine Chinese-Spanish bilingual schools full of reading sound draw closer the hearts of the two peoples. Hope that Buenos Aires's exchanges and cooperation with Chinese provinces and cities could yield more achievements and make more contributions to the development of China-Argentina relations.

Prior to the ceremony, Xi Jinping met with Macri. Xi Jinping pointed out that Buenos Aires has maintained close exchanges and cooperation with Beijing, Guangzhou and other Chinese cities for a long time. In terms of developing relations with China, Buenos Aires has always taken the lead among Argentine and even Latin American cities, and has become an important window of China-Argentina friendly cooperation. Hope that the two countries continue to strengthen regional contact, promote communication in science and technology, education, culture, and sports, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Macri said that Buenos Aires warmly welcomes President Xi Jinping's visit. President Xi Jinping's state visit to Argentina has pushed the bilateral relations to a new high and facilitated a large number of cooperation projects, which provides an important opportunity for Buenos Aires's cooperation with China.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the above activities.
