On July 20, 2014, President Xi Jinping received the Order of the Liberator awarded by President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela on behalf of the Venezuelan government in Caracas.

The Order of the Liberator is the highest honor conferred on foreign leaders by Venezuela. In the ceremony, Maduro put on the ribbon and the order for Xi Jinping. In his speech, Maduro spoke highly of the traditional friendship and the mutually beneficial cooperation between Venezuela and China. He praised that China is a major force in safeguarding peace and upholding justice and stressed that conferring the Order of the Liberator on Xi Jinping is to honor Xi Jinping for his outstanding contribution to promoting Venezuela-China relations as well as safeguarding world peace and development.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech that President Maduro conferring the Order of the Liberator on me has demonstrated that President Maduro and the Venezuelan government attach great importance to China-Venezuela relations and that the Venezuelan people have friendly affections towards the Chinese people. Former President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela once said that the Venezuela-China friendship is as unbreakable and indestructible as the Great Wall. The China-Venezuela friendship is also bound to move forward unceasingly and be ever-flourishing as the Orinoco River in South America. The Chinese side is fully confident of the development prospect of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. And the Chinese side stands ready to work with the Venezuelan side to remain good friends of mutual trust and good partners of mutual benefit and win-win results forever and to push the bilateral relations to new highs.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the above activities.
